In the article, we will consider the current tariffs of the leading mobile operators. We will tell you how the prices have changed and what Kyivstar, Vodafone and lifecell are currently offering their customers, and we will explain why unlimited Internet is not completely unlimited. We will also talk about the features of each operator’s tariffs. And at the end, we will introduce readers to useful life hacks that will help save a lot of money.
Importantly! In the tables below, only what is included in the price of the tariff is taken into account. For example, the option “50 SMS for UAH 1.50” still means that the tariff includes 0 SMS. Note that some operators charge every 4 weeks, others every month.

**Some tariffs allow you to choose one or two additional options (superpowers) of your choice. More details on the official website.

The policy of the lifecell company is very cunning in the direction of luring customers. The operator motivates switching from other companies by keeping his number. This affects the cost of the tariff. For example, switching from Kyivstar to lifecell, the user will pay UAH 180/month instead of UAH 275/month. Linking the number to the passport will also reduce the cost of the tariff, but not so much. Only the most expensive “Platinum Life” tariff offers 50 minutes for calls abroad and roaming traffic (500 MB).
Family tariffs should also be considered separately. This is another way of luring customers. 5 rooms with one general subscription fee from UAH 300/month looks profitable. But all traffic and minutes are also shared. The huge number of SMS messages, up to 1500 per month, is surprising.

Features of unlimited
All operators have hidden mobile Internet conditions. After using a certain number of gigabytes of traffic, the speed will decrease. For example, this is what the Kyivstar operator indicates for the “SuperDIG” tariff:
The speed limit can only apply if you use more than 300 GB in a month. In this case, you will still be able to use the Internet, but its speed will be reduced to 0.8 Mbps.
Lifecell is not in the best situation. Why do you need that unlimited speed when the speed will be limited? “Free Life” tariff:
Under the terms of the tariff plan, an unlimited amount of Internet traffic is provided during the validity of the service package. After using the first 50 GB at the maximum possible network speed, the Internet traffic speed will be up to 1 Mbps until the end of the paid service package for 4 weeks.
More expensive tariffs will allow you to use more gigabytes of traffic at an adequate speed, and then still reduce it to 1 Mbps.
Vodafone offers pretty much the same thing:
The Vodafone SuperNet Turbo tariff provides unlimited mobile internet for 28 days, but after using 30 GB, it will be reduced to 0.8 Mbps.
Additional terms you should know
Operators offer additional conditions for using traffic. Programs from the specified list will not use packet megabytes. For example, Vodafone has several PASS configurations: Online, Social and Video. Thus, you can save a significant amount of traffic. More details on the official website.
Kyivstar has a similar situation. There are additional options in tariffs with limited traffic. Traffic can be saved by using programs from a certain list. Television is also not charged.
Some popular social networks and video telephony services are free of charge if you choose the appropriate option. We remind you that Kyivstar calls all this a “superpower”. The number of superpowers depends on the tariff. Cheaper tariffs have one superpower, more expensive ones have two superpowers.
Here are some of these superpowers (more on the official website):
- Additional gigabytes of mobile Internet
- Video on the go (traffic from certain applications is not charged)
- Every month, additional minutes on Kyivstar, as well as other mobile and landline numbers of Ukraine
- Additional SMS to any numbers in Ukraine.
- Monthly additional minutes for calls to numbers in Poland, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, Israel, the USA, Canada, China, Romania, India and Slovakia.
- Roaming
- SIM for the tablet
- SIM for a second phone
- Home internet
The lifecell operator also does not charge for social networks and messengers. The list is limited, but includes the most popular services. In such conditions, unlimited tariffs do not look very profitable. It is enough to determine where the user consumes more traffic. Probably unlimited (which will also become slow) is not needed.
How to save?
The article considered basic tariffs available to everyone. But operators also offer individual plans that are highly dependent on user activity.
How to get a cheap tariff plan of a Ukrainian telecommunications operator? There is a very effective method of combating the arrogance of operators and high tariffs – a temporary transfer to another company. Let operator A be the first, and operator B the second.
It sounds very naive and simple, but we will explain everything. The fact is that clever software on the servers regularly checks the customer database. If the system determines that the user has not paid a penny to the company’s coffers for several months, then an SMS marathon with offers begins.
Of course, it is difficult and unnecessary to completely give up communication for several months. It is enough to switch to another operator B and continue to pay him for the basic tariff plan, waiting for operator A to compromise.
Operator A will be unhappy with the loss of regular cash flow. Later, it will send various “fantastic” offers that might interest the user. Initially, these will be small discounts for several subscriptions or minimal bonuses. But we hold on and continue to use operator B.
A few more months will pass, and operator A will be on his knees begging for the return of his dear client. It is quite possible to get a discount of 50, 70 or 80% (no exaggeration).
For example, the Vodafone SuperNet Start tariff plan costs UAH 145/month. And what about UAH 360/year? It sounds like something out of science fiction. 1,740 against 360 hryvnias per year is an 80% discount. The tariff conditions remain the same. Thousands of users across Ukraine received such an offer. In case of prolonged absence of financial activity, the operator is ready to offer any conditions.
This is just one example, but the point is clear. Prolonged passivity of the user will always force the company to resort to compromises. All operators take similar steps when they risk losing a user.
All for the sake of customer retention. The operator agrees even to a small subscription fee. “A tit in the hand is better than a crane in the sky” – this proverb is more relevant than ever for Ukrainian mobile operators.
If the client pays, he can be “milked” much more and raise already high tariffs. If he refuses to pay, the operator will ask, hoping to get at least 1-2 dollars a month.
