People’s deputy, secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, SBU colonel Roman Kostenko said that Russia could launch an offensive in Donbas and in some “distracting” direction.

On Radio Svoboda, the expert explained that the enemy is now preparing for an offensive, and only a battle will show its readiness for this. According to him, it will be a spring campaign, starting at the end of February, they will prepare and wait for the weather.

“The enemy is resourceful, they have more resources than we do, that’s a fact, especially in terms of equipment. It may be older there, but in terms of the amount of ammunition and equipment they surpass us. Therefore, where the enemy will strike, we will see it, and intelligence will show it . I think that maybe it will be Donbas and it will be somewhat distracting, maybe the south or the north in order to distract some part,” said the people’s deputy.

In his opinion, Russia can carry out an offensive operation in several directions so that the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not understand where the main strike will be.

“Actually, the situation is difficult now. Despite what no one says, but the enemy continues to advance, continues to tighten the ring on Bakhmut. And it is very difficult … I know that some main roads are already under fire. And the command will take a decision on how to act here, but according to my information, the enemy is pressing there, and yes, we also have problems with ammunition in some directions, the military personnel themselves say this. logistics problems, or because of problems with the leadership, which cannot provide it , but there is,” Kostenko concluded.

Russia’s new offensive

According to Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security Council, a new large-scale offensive by the Russian occupying forces may begin in the Kharkiv or Zaporizhzhia regions.

At the same time, according to ISW, Russia does not have sufficient combat power for a successful major offensive.

According to the GUR, Russian troops will go on the offensive in three directions. We are talking about Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
