The Ukrainian embassy is verifying information from the Turkish side regarding the deaths of Ukrainians.
The Turkish side reported that the earthquake in Turkey claimed the lives of two Ukrainians, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is verifying this information.
This was announced by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko with reference to the Turkish authorities. “As the Turkish side reported, two citizens of Ukraine were probably killed as a result of the earthquake. The embassy is currently verifying this information and taking measures to establish the identities of the victims. It is also known about 4 injured Ukrainians. They received minor injuries, there are no threats to their lives, they were not hospitalized need,” Nikolenko noted.
He added that the victims were provided with temporary housing and food. In general, according to him, diplomats have already searched for 38 citizens of Ukraine, they are cooperating with the Turkish rescue services in the search for the other 19 Ukrainians who have not been contacted.
He also announced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to send Ukrainian consuls to Gaziantep.
“The diplomats of the embassy will be able to arrive in the area of the natural disaster as soon as the situation allows against the declared state of emergency in Turkey. The consuls will coordinate on-site assistance to the citizens of Ukraine, deliver them warm clothes and basic necessities. On the way back, the embassy plans to take those Ukrainians away with its vehicles , who will show a desire to move to other regions of Turkey,” informed the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the latest data from the Turkish authorities, the number of victims of two devastating earthquakes with the epicenter in the Turkish province of Kahramanmaras reached 3,703 people, 22,286 were injured.
