According to Svitan, such an opportunity has been lost for them forever.
Russian occupation forces will never be able to enter the administrative borders of Donetsk region. This opinion was expressed by a military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Roman Svitan.
“Going to the administrative borders of the Donetsk region is definitely not for the Russians in this millennium. They missed this opportunity last year, they practically did not have it. Although if they had not launched a large-scale offensive on two thousand kilometers of the front line last year, then maybe , with the forces they had last year, at the beginning, they would have been able to reach the borders of the Donetsk region. This is already a lost opportunity for them. Lost forever,” Svitan emphasized on the Espresso broadcast.
According to a military expert, the Russian occupying army does not have the resources for a major offensive.
“The forces that the Russians have, they can use to try to squeeze out our troops, squeeze out our units from the first lines of defense. Let’s say to the second line of defense, then to the third, but no more than that. The lack of forces and funds does not give them such an opportunity Therefore, in the near future, we will see an increase in the arithmetic progression of the number of certain waves of offensives just before the squeeze along the front line from Vugledar to Kupyansk, which depends on the speed of the approach of about 100 thousand people who remained – Russian mobilized people, whom they were preparing. for several months, and now they are mostly entering Donbas,” Svitan explained.
The situation in Donetsk region
On the morning of February 8, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that the enemy, trying to take full control of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive operations in the Kupyan, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiiv and Novopavli directions in the Kreminna, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Doslydne districts , and Ugledar.
Fierce battles are raging around Bakhmut. There, the border guards eliminated the Russian invaders who were planning to attack the positions of the Ukrainian military.
At the same time, the head of the Donetsk regional military administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, did not rule out “any” scenarios regarding the possible occupation of Bakhmut by Russian troops.
