10 Trumpists and a member of the US House of Representatives opposed the support of Kyiv.
The Republicans of the United States of America, led by Matt Geitz, registered in the House of Representatives the “Resolution on fatigue with Ukraine”. According to FoxNews, its creators were ten Trumpists.
The resolution calls for an end to the supply of aid to Ukraine: both military and financial. In addition, it indicates the need to ensure a peace agreement between the parties to the conflict.
The Republicans also emphasized that the USA helped Ukraine fight against the Russian invasion the most among other countries. In total, Washington provided 110 billion dollars in various types of aid (military, financial, humanitarian), including 27.4 billion in the security sector.
The resolution states that the money should be directed to overcoming problems within the United States, including the migration crisis. It is also emphasized that US aid contributes to victims among the civilian population (according to their estimates, it is about 40,000 people).
US Republicans and aid to Ukraine
During the recent visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi to the US, only 40% of Republicans came to hear his speech.
In October, the leader of the Republican Party in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, called on the ruling Democratic Party to quickly provide aid to Ukraine.
After the same visit of Zelenskyi to Washington, Republicans spoke well of the President of Ukraine, but demanded an audit of military aid from the United States.
