Two out of three nuclear power plants reduced electricity production as a preventive measure due to Russian shelling, one of the power units of the Khmelnytsky NPP was stopped.
As reported by the IAEA, the Ukrainian regulator informed the organization that two of the three operating Ukrainian nuclear power plants – Rivne and South Ukrainian – have reduced electricity production as a precautionary measure due to renewed shelling of the country’s energy infrastructure.
“Instability in the power grid caused by the shelling also led to the shutdown of one of the power units of the Khmelnytsky NPP. These events were confirmed by the IAEA support and assistance missions located at the plant, which also confirmed that all nuclear safety systems at the Khmelnytsky NPP are working properly.” , the statement says.

In total, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 61 enemy cruise missiles out of 71 and 5 kamikaze drones out of 7 used by the occupiers.
Prime Minister Shmigal reported that due to Russian missile and drone attacks and the occupation of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, Ukraine lost 44% of its nuclear generation and three-quarters of its thermal power plant capacity.
