The favorites of the race were American Heinrich Gentzen, German Lieutenant Köppen, and Baron Eduard von Scheinfogel. Their crews started on cars of the Protos, Cyst-Milan, and Thomas-Flyer factories, respectively. The French crew of Boursier went on the car “De Dion-Bouton”, the Italian crew of Henry Haag chose the car “Brix-Just”. The car races took place along the route New York – Alaska – Seattle – Vladivostok – Irkutsk – Achinsk – Tomsk, then along the route through Russia to Europe.

The first German car “Protos” finished in Paris on July 11, the American crew came second on July 26. But the American crew was recognized as the winner. A German racing driver was fined for 15 days due to the fact that his car was transported to Seattle by rail after breaking down. All cars were damaged during the track.
