What Oleksandr Feklistov says about the war in Ukraine
The Russian actor has clearly stated his position against the war since 2014 – when he, together with other filmmakers, signed an open letter published by KinoSoyuz condemning “Russian military intervention in Ukraine.” In 2022, after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, Feklistov recorded a video message saying:
“My dear Ukrainian colleagues, with whom I worked, who remember me, I want to express my words of solidarity to you. We here in Russia feel incredible shame and shame because of what happened. But these are all small things compared to what Ukraine is suffering now … My uncle, Valentyn Moiseyovych, died near Kyiv during the Second World War. More precisely, he went missing. So I don’t understand why we are repeating this. It is very painful and bitter.”
