The columnist stated that there is a shortage of short-range air defense systems in Russia.
The fact that the Russians began deploying S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMS) in Moscow, in addition to the previously installed Pantsir-S1 air defense systems, confirms the fact that Russia has an acute shortage of short-range echelon systems.
As noted by military and political expert Oleksandr Kovalenko, Russia cannot fully form a cover echelon for its long-range air defense systems:
“If we talk about the protection of Russia’s military potential against small-sized objects, it has the Torm-M2 air defense system and the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile defense system among its modern complexes. The Torm-M2 air defense system (effective range of 12 km) , produced – 132 units of the Pantsir-S1 air defense system (effective range of 15 km) produced – 116. During the war in Ukraine, the Russian army lost 14 Tor-M1/2 air defense systems and 12 Pantsir air defense systems that were destroyed, damaged and destroyed -S1 “. According to the data of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more than 30 Tor-M1/2 air defense systems and 33 Pantsir-S1 air defense systems were lost.
According to the expert, most of the Russian short-range complexes are now concentrated in the combat zone in Ukraine to cover the positions of the occupiers, which makes Russia’s military potential completely unprotected from the impact of small-sized objects.
In Moscow, the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile system was installed on the roofs – what was reported
As wrote, recently in Moscow, self-propelled anti-aircraft missile and gun complexes “Pantsir-S1” began to be placed on the roofs of administrative buildings.
According to the experts of the Institute for the Study of War, the Kremlin’s deployment of air defense systems in residential areas of Russian cities is part of information warfare. They believe that the leadership of the Russian Federation is trying to present the war in Ukraine as an existential threat.
