The US welcomes China’s declaration of its desire for peace, but its support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is unacceptable.

China will cross a “red line” if it decides to provide lethal military aid to Russia for the war against Ukraine.
This was stated by the US Permanent Representative to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, writes CNN. She said that the United States welcomes China’s declaration of its desire for peace, but that supporting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is unacceptable.
“We welcome China’s statement that they want peace, because that is what we always want in situations like this. But we must also be clear that if there are any thoughts and attempts by the Chinese and other countries to provide lethal support to the Russians in their brutal attack on Ukraine, then this is unacceptable. This will be a red line,” the post-predator said.
Thomas-Greenfield also emphasized that the US is ready to “compete” with China.
“The president said that we see China as an adversary, which it is. We are ready to compete with the Chinese, and we [готовы]when necessary, confront the Chinese. And that’s what we do. And this is what we will continue to do so that our national interests are always at the forefront,” she said.
The war in Ukraine is China’s position
As reported, earlier CNN, citing sources familiar with intelligence data, wrote that China was playing a double game. Publicly, Beijing advocates peace, but there are “alarming” signals that China is preparing to secretly supply Russia with lethal weapons.
In response, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that China would face serious consequences if it transferred lethal weapons to Russia for use in Ukraine. According to him, this will affect relations with the United States, which is ready for retaliatory measures.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at the Munich Security Conference that Beijing is ready to submit its own peace proposals for Ukraine and Russia. China says that the war must stop. Wang Yi added that China’s proposal takes into account that the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states must be respected.
