Thibaut Courtois made a curious mistake early in the game that resulted in a goal being conceded.
On Tuesday, February 21, the first match of the 1/8 finals of the Champions League took place, where Real Madrid defeated Liverpool.
Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois appreciated the strong-willed victory of the Spanish club in the match, and also recalled his silly mistake that led to the missed goal.
“At the moment with Liverpool’s second goal, we were a bit unlucky because I screwed up. I kind of controlled the ball and wanted to pass straight away. But then I saw Salah stop and I tried to put the ball on my right foot but he bounced off my knee.
I played in the Champions League for the first time at Anfield in front of the fans. The fact that Liverpool fans applauded Modric and Benzema only proves that these people know how to appreciate guys who are great players,” Courtois was quoted as saying by UEFA’s official website.
We will remind, in the 14th minute of the match against “Liverpool”, the goalkeeper of Real “brought” a goal into his goal. Thibaut Courtois initially failed to handle the ball, and then released it from him, which Salah took advantage of. Mohamed made it 2-0 to Liverpool, but Madrid responded with five goals to seal a crushing victory.
