Head of Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav announced the release of Mortal Kombat 12 this year during last year’s financial results video conference. Andrew Slabin, executive vice president of Warner Bros. Discovery also told investors that Mortal Kombat 12 is slated for a 2023 release.
“There’s still a lot to come, including the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat 12 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – games that should also be released this year with mixed launch predictions,” Slabin said.
Until yesterday, nothing was officially known about Mortal Kombat 12. Back in September, Johnny Cage’s voice actor Andrew Bowen posted a video of his stay at the Warner Bros. studio. NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon previously mentioned that his team is working on another game, but he couldn’t say exactly what that project would be. Last year, journalist Jeff Grubb predicted the release of Mortal Kombat 12 in 2023.

With Mortal Kombat 12 coming out the same year as Street Fighter 6, and most likely the same time as Tekken 8, 2023-24 promises to be an exciting time for fighting game fans.
The most recent game in the series, Mortal Kombat 11, was released in 2019, and a DLC called Aftermath was released the following year.
