The funds were provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
On February 24, the World Bank Group announced additional grant funding for Ukraine in the amount of 2.5 billion dollars.
As reported on the institution’s website, this grant is a direct budget support of the Government of Ukraine and is provided within the framework of the bank’s project “Public Expenditures for the Support of the Administrative Capacity of Ukraine” (PEACE) to ensure the continuity of the provision of basic services and the implementation of the main functions of the government in the conditions of the ongoing war.
The funds were provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). They will be transferred to the government of Ukraine after the World Bank checks its acceptable costs.
“Today’s additional financial package for the PEACE program continues a series of grants previously awarded and will be aimed at supporting key sectors, including education and health systems, pension payments, financial assistance for internally displaced persons, support for social assistance programs, funding of salaries of public sector employees, which provide basic services,” the message reads.
According to World Bank Group President David Malpass, the World Bank has mobilized $20.6 billion in support of Ukraine since the war began. Of this amount, 18.5 billion dollars have already been paid, which was assistance to more than 12 million Ukrainians.
