The year of unity: 365 days of the “Unified News” marathon

The national marathon “Edyni Novini” was created for the purpose of prompt, reliable and high-quality information of the country during a full-scale invasion, support of national unity and informational resistance to the enemy. For a year now, the largest Ukrainian media groups, public and state broadcasters have been working on broadcasting together with the common goal of bringing Ukraine closer to victory.

During the year of the marathon’s existence, the creative teams of “Yediny Noviny” created more than 18,000 stories that informed and inspired the country, 40,000 direct inclusions – which helped to learn the most important things from the first persons and from the scene of the events. The combined marketing team created more than 700 social videos supporting morale and unity, informing the population and preserving the national memory of heroes and heroines. Together with the viewers, Yedyni Novyny collected more than 500 million hryvnias to help the Armed Forces and solve humanitarian problems caused by the war.

Behind the big numbers are the stories of hundreds of journalists, editors, cameramen and presenters who, from the first day of the full-scale invasion, chose national security over personal security. Starting from the most difficult days for the country in February 2022, they continue to work around the clock in the hottest spots, but remain on the air together with Ukrainians. In these numbers – a year of popular resistance, thousands of military and civilian stories, people from different professions and regions, but united by the common goal of Ukrainian victory.

“Our task as broadcasters in Yedyny noviny is to provide viewers with operational information about events in the country and to be in touch 24/7. I thank every Ukrainian for their involvement, for their concern and willingness to always come to one another’s aid. In turn, every second we express admiration and great honor and respect to our defenders and defenders. For our part, we are doing everything possible to fight for victory on the information front and help those who are fighting a fierce battle on the front lines. Together – to victory. On all fronts! ” – commented in 1+1 media.

The National Marathon became a unique precedent for the unity of broadcasters and private-state partnership during the greatest threat to national security. The result of this technical and creative union of independent editorial offices was the greatest possible stability during the war. During constant missile attacks, cyber attacks or blackouts, viewers’ access to up-to-date and verified news did not stop for a minute during the year.

An important achievement of the marathon remains the consistently high level of trust of the Ukrainian audience. Yes, 91% of Ukrainians know about the existence of “Edyny novyn”, 78% of them are its viewers. “The only news” is presented on absolutely all platforms – on television, radio, on the Internet and social networks, on online television and action platforms. The marathon is also distributed in various languages ​​and is available for free viewing worldwide.

Marathon teams continue to work for the sake of Ukrainians and the announcement of the main news – Ukraine’s victory over the enemy.

* Data from a sociological study by Gradus Research Company commissioned by Hromadskyi Movlennya. The research was conducted within the framework of and thanks to the project “Comprehensive organizational transformation of the company”, financed by the Swedish Agency for International Cooperation and Development Sida.

Data from the VI wave of the study were implemented in December with a sample population of 2,500 respondents aged 18 and older who live on the territory of Ukraine (excluding temporarily occupied territories and those with active hostilities). The method of collecting information is self-completion of questionnaires in the “GRADUS” mobile application.
