The President once again emphasized that the end of the war is possible only after returning to the borders of Ukraine in 1991.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy once again stated that a compromise with Russian President Volodymyr Putin is impossible. The head of state also emphasized that Ukraine wants security guarantees.

“Ukraine wants security guarantees. We all want it, we are united. Therefore, any territorial compromises will only weaken our country. Why? The question is not in the word “compromise” – why should we be afraid of it? We have a million compromises in life, they happen every day are happening. The questions are with whom? Compromise with Putin? No. Why? Because there is no faith. Dialogue with him? No. Why? There is no faith,” he stressed in an interview with the BBC.

The president explained that this is impossible, because “you can agree on something with Putin, and the next day he will introduce troops.”

“You think: how could this happen, we have lived for centuries – and he is torturing your people? In other words, you cannot have any agreements with those who are not ready to abide by them. And therefore, this is a question of the survival of our state,” Zelenskyy said.

He also emphasized that he would like Ukraine to return all its territories, and the end of the war is possible only after returning to the borders of Ukraine in 1991.

“I know that this is a difficult mission. But it is good for our state. Moreover, I will tell you honestly, I believe that it is also important for the survival of Russia to give up all (occupied – ) territories. Because if they do not give some part of our territories, this makes any coexistence impossible for the next generations. If our partners allow them to think about it and find these options, it will not lead to anything good – neither in Ukraine, nor in Russia, nor in Europe,” – believes President.

In his opinion, this will lead to the fact that everyone will believe that it is still possible to capture the territories of other states.

“All the same, if you are a state with a strong army or a large number of people, if you have nuclear weapons – in principle, if you fight very hard and for a long time, then it will be possible to come to some kind of understanding and take some part of the territory. “I just I think this is a big, big risk. This is my attitude to the occupied territories. If we do not de-occupy the territories – or if our partners allow Russia to find some compromises regarding Donbas, Crimea or the south of our territories, not to de-occupy them – then “it will be a bomb in our country and a bomb in Europe,” Zelenskyi believes.

How and when the war will end

Military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko does not believe that the war in Ukraine will end in 2023. In his opinion, it will continue even in 2024, when the final phase of the war will take place: the liberation of the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula, as well as Luhansk region and Donetsk region.

Earlier, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said that aid to Ukraine will not stop until the war started by Russia ends. According to him, if Putin wins this, it will not stop in Ukraine.

In addition, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi emphasized that Ukraine will receive guaranteed protection for future generations in the war with Russia.
