The European Commission ordered employees to remove TikTok from their phones by March 15 – the social network calls this approach “un-European”

After the US Congress, the European Commission also started taking steps to restrict the use of the TikTok app. The EU executive has ordered all of its 32,000 employees to remove TikTok from the organization’s phones and devices, as well as from their personal smartphones if they have official EC apps such as email and Skype for Business installed.

The European Commission said in a statement that such a decision was made to “protect data and improve cyber security.” No additional explanations were made. Employees have until March 15 to opt out of TikTok or risk losing the ability to use official EC apps.

TikTok’s parent company ByteDance is unhappy with the actions of the European Commission to ban the program, and its representative said:

“We are disappointed by this decision, which we believe is erroneous and based on fundamental errors.”

TikTok’s administration has criticized the European Commission’s decision to ban its employees from using the social network’s app on their phones as “un-European”. The company’s vice president of European public policy also said that TikTok was not informed by the European Commission about the decision, and he only learned about it from news reports.
