However, despite loud media buzz and interest, the Pocophone was a niche story. This was confirmed by the speaker of the online presentation of the second Pocophone model. Back to Pocophone! It turned out that the total number of devices sold was only 1.64 million units. This is extremely small. I have two assumptions. First, the Pocophone F1 is ahead of its time. India was supposed to be the main market for Pocophone. There is now an active smartphoneization of the population, and since many are just buying the first devices (at a price of $ 150), then in 2018 people were simply not ready to spend $ 230 on the Pocophone F1. They did not understand what exactly he was giving. Secondly, it is likely that Xiaomi itself has limited sales. There is a strong suspicion that the Pocophone F1 was sold, relatively speaking, at the cost of iron and the work of engineers and was unprofitable for this reason. And the Pocophone F1 project itself was more of a marketing campaign to attract attention.

The promo video for POCO F2 Pro said that while the whole world is in constant pursuit of the fastest and brightest, the Poco team prefers to focus on those things that really have an impact on the user experience, while not forgetting about performance. And the new POCO slogan: focus on innovation that matters!

If the Pocophone F1 was the “flagship killer”, then the POCO F2 was presented as “the real flagship killer.” Probably, at the presentation in a couple of years, some POCO F4 will be called “well, exactly, 100%, really a real killer of flagships.” By the way, the new smartphone is called POCO F2 Pro. Apparently, marketing said that the trend can not be ignored, Apple has smartphones “Pro”, even if we have.

The speaker said the new model builds on the legacy of the Pocophone F1 in terms of insane performance, but will focus on the 3 things that really matter to the user – performance, design and camera.

Pro performance

We decided to start the story with performance. It’s not just performance, but Powerfully Cool Performance, that is, “Very cool performance”! But here is a play on words, implying that, despite the performance, the smartphone will not warm up.

The chipset is Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. And, of course, Xiaomi makes the most of the chipset’s potential. The Poco F2 Pro will have 5G support, Wi-Fi 6 and dual-band GPS. Next, the speaker said that the smartphone has LPDDR 5 memory (Speed ​​44 GB / s), and the drive is up to UFS 3.1 (777 Mb / s). These technologies hint that the Poco F2 Pro will fly first! Secondly, it apparently supports shooting in 8K.

The new Poco F2 Pro was called an absolute beast that tears all competitors like Tuzik a heating pad. And they immediately gave a demonstration! Apple has yet to compete with Apple in terms of performance. The company has improved its quality in chipset construction. Compared to MediaTek is somehow not comme il faut, so the Exynos 990 and Samsung S20 + were humiliated. And they did the right thing! Let Samsung watch and be ashamed of its handiwork! The POCO F2 Pro will probably be really good at gaming. It has 180 Hz touch processing (not to be confused with the screen refresh rate!), As well as a semi-premium Z-vibration motor. I already talked about the Z-axis vibration motors in the presentation of Redmi Note 9 Pro, so I’ll just quote:

The Pocophone F2 Pro was unveiled as one of the few smartphones to have received a gaming performance certification from TUV Rheinland. The fact is that TUV Rheinland inspects everything from bridges and railways to cyber security audits. She is asked a question and asked to confirm or deny, so the reason why other manufacturers do not have a certificate is simply because they did not go to TUV Rheinland.

About battery life

About humiliation of Samsung

The sneaky POCO found a weak point in the armor of the great Korean company and throughout the presentation hammered into it like a drunken woodpecker in a birdhouse. To put an end to the conversation about the performance and superiority of the new Pokophone, we conducted a gaming test, during which the Poco F2 Pro showed that it is more powerful, colder, more stable, and in general it seems like a better buy.

In fact, after 1 hour of play, the difference is minimal: 2.5 degrees and 4% charge. Thus, if we extrapolate, then Samsung will last 5.55 hours of play, and POCO F2 Pro – 7.14 hours of play. And then, if you carefully looked at the pictures in the section about battery life, the question should arise: where is 13.5 hours of the declared gaming ?! Because happiness cannot be built on someone else’s misfortune!

About the screen

An unusual feature is a 360-degree light sensor. To those who are not in the subject, it may seem that this is an innovation, but many manufacturers put a light sensor on both sides of the smartphone in order to better adjust the brightness of the screen. But POCO has 3 sensors. Usually 2 additional sensors are located on the back of the device, but here, maybe they were stuck in the end for the sake of innovation ?!

The smartphone has HDR10 +. I can’t remember, but one of the Xiaomi smartphones (maybe the Pocophone F1?) Had a problem with the lack of a certificate that allowed Netflix and other streaming services to work. Now such a certificate has appeared.

About OS features

Android 10 smartphone with Poco Launcher 2.0 shell. There are small tweaks in the shell that distinguish it from MIUI. The POCO F2 Pro is now a truly new OnePlus. The smartphone gives a fairly powerful price and excellent performance at the same time. Recently, Xiaomi has learned to work with cameras, and its smartphones are in the top DxOMark ratings, but the POCO F2 Pro still needs to be tested. And if the camera is really good, then the new Poco is definitely more interesting than the OnePlus 8 Pro.
