Netflix canceled Meghan Markle’s animated series, which was supposed to be released under the name “Pearl” and tell about the childhood of the Duchess of Sussex. But another project involving the Duchess of Sussex and her husband will be shown to the public.
The cartoon, which was supposed to be produced by David Furnish, was canceled due to a wave of layoffs caused by a drop in the number of subscribers to the streaming service.
After leaving the royal family in 2020, Meghan and her husband Prince Harry founded Archewell Productions to create series, documentaries, features and children’s programs, and The Pearl was expected to be the first animated series produced by the production company. Duchess Megan became the executive producer of the animated series.
Then it was reported that the cartoon will tell about the adventures of a brave 12-year-old girl named Pearl. And the image of the central character was inspired by a real person, that is, Meghan Markle herself.
According to the Daily Mail , Netflix remains optimistic about the Archewell deal and is planning a number of other projects, including a documentary series called Heart of Invictus, which was filmed during the recent Invincible Games that Harry and Meghan attended in the Netherlands. For these purposes, they say, Megan came with Harry to the “Games”, and together they visited Queen Elizabeth II in Windsor. Everything is not just like that, but so that later in Harry’s interview there would be something to tell, and Netflix would have something to show the audience.
