Ukraine wants representatives of the Russian Federation to be excluded from the WHO executive committee.
Ukraine will raise the issue of closing the Office of Noncommunicable Diseases, which is currently operating in Russia, at the WHO.
Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko said this, Ukrinform writes .
“This is a question of the expediency of the functioning of the WHO Office of Noncommunicable Diseases in Moscow, since a country cannot kill with one hand, and show with the other hand that it is worried about prevention and saving the life of the whole world through the World Health Organization. We are on May 10 at the regional committee of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, and then from May 22 at the WHO assembly we will consider these issues, and I ask for the support of my colleagues in doing this – excluding the representatives of the Russian Federation from the WHO executive committee,” Lyashko said.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization next week will consider a resolution condemning Russia because of the war unleashed by the Kremlin in Ukraine. This document may contain a decision to close a large WHO regional office in Moscow.
