Positioning
This month, Huawei unveiled several new products from the world of mobile devices, including the Watch FIT watch. Please note that Huawei positions it as a watch and not as a bracelet. In my opinion, a somewhat strange decision: nowadays it is customary to call devices of a square or round shape, but here the shape is elongated, close to a bracelet. However, these concepts in the modern world have become as vague as possible. It’s easier to call them smart accessories.
Huawei Watch Fit has been equipped with a large number of fitness functions: here you can measure oxygen in the blood – a rather relevant thing, because one of the manifestations of 2019-nCoV is a decrease in SpO2; heart rate measurement, stress and sleep analysis, the ability to do breathing exercises to relax the body.
One of the unusual things is the animated workout programs: on the large Watch Fit screen, a full-length model of a person (man) is displayed, which shows how you should perform certain exercises. But I’m wondering why it’s impossible to choose the gender of the person who will show the movements. A dangerous phenomenon, in fact: at best, they can be accused of gender inequality, and at worst, of infringement of the rights of minorities.
In addition, the watch contains a huge number of not quite standard programs: yoga, Pilates, boxing, karate, belly dancing and even roller skates, a hoop, darts, swings and dozens of similar ones. The impression that Huawei decided to cram all possible types of activities into the Watch Fit. And how the program “Fishing” works, I can not even imagine: “Tink! You have already sat for 60 minutes without moving, maybe it’s time to change the location? There are definitely no fish here! ” And while you stomp on the other side of the river, activities are measured ?
The Huawei Watch Fit went on sale today, September 18, at a price of 8 490 rubles.
Design and appearance
Alas, designers and developers are stuck inventing various mobile gadgets. On the one hand, you need to somehow be similar to the devices in the trend, and on the other hand, at least slightly, but be different. As long as the Apple Watch is what it is now, the rest of the manufacturers will not change anything.
What did I mean by that? Huawei Watch Fit is a stretched Apple Watch or some Amazfit Bip S lite. The explanation is simple: so that many can imagine a new device from Huawei.
Available in three colors: black, light green and pink. The colors are muted, dull. It was quite possible to make red, orange. However, there will most likely be replaceable straps.
The edging of the Watch Fit is made of plastic (both to the touch and looks like metal), painted in a specific color. For example, we had a black phone in our review, and a dark gray edging. If you buy a gadget in green, the edging will be light gray.
The shape of the case is elongated and slightly curved, that is, the screen is not quite flat here. It is covered with glass, which protrudes slightly, and bends around the edges – 2.5D.
The inner part of the watch is made of plastic. There is also a convex “island” with a backlight lamp and two sensors. A little higher there are two magnetic contacts for charging the battery.
There is a mechanical button on the right side of the case of the Huawei Watch Fit. Its dimensions are 9×3 mm. Pressing is firm, the stroke is minimal, the click sound is not audible. You can feel how the button is pressed. Just above it, you can see a small hole. It turned out to be a microphone for a voice assistant! But this function will not work in Russia. Actually, therefore, it was not possible to check the work of the assistant. It’s a pity, there would be one more trump card in favor of Watch Fit.
Forgot to mention that the water resistance is 5 ATM. I wash my hands without any problems and even take a shower with a watch on my hand.
Strap and usability
You only get one strap in the kit. Its color depends on the color of the device: black, green (light green), pink. Made of silicone. Softness – 7 out of 10, elasticity – 2 out of 10. It bends well, but hardly stretches.
The strap is replaceable, which is very good. Apparently there will be dozens of color options on AliExpress. It can be removed easily: just remove the plugs from both sides on the back of the case.
The standard strap seemed to me harsh and uncomfortable. As a temporary measure, it is quite normal, but if you wear the watch for a long time, I would replace it. And periodically, the sharp corner of the buckle presses on the back of the hand. This is most often manifested in the case of tight fixation of the watch.
Of the unambiguous advantages, I can name a large number of holes for fixing the “tongue”: the maximum diameter is 70 mm, the minimum is 45 mm. That is, the watch fits both me and my daughter four years old.
Display
The diagonal of the screen of the Huawei Watch Fit is 1.64 inches, the physical dimensions are 22×35 mm. The resolution is 280×456 pixels, which corresponds to 326 PPI. That’s why I praise the developers of these watches. Despite the fact that the matrix is AMOLED, individual pixels are almost impossible to see. The display is black, bright and contrasting.
The maximum brightness is about 600 cd / m2. I even measured the PWM, and it was 55%. It is clear that you will not look at the watch screen as much as at the smartphone screen, but still know: the ripple coefficient is high here (it should be no more than 10%).
I think it is also clear what such a large screen gives us: it contains more useful information.
The display has a touch layer, one-touch response, good sensitivity. You can control the interface with wet fingers, but if there are drops of water on the screen, the sensor will no longer adequately respond to touches. No actions with the interface occur under water, that is, there will be no spontaneous clicks.
By the way, the screen has an excellent oleophobic coating: water droplets do not linger for a long time. As for strength, in a couple of weeks I managed to “plant” several small scratches.
The backlight brightness is adjustable from 1 to 5. Alternatively, you can trust the automation. The maximum brightness was set for the entire time of working with the watch.

Fitness functions
For Huawei, the Watch Fit is the first device to feature animated workouts. They are displayed on the screen when you select one or another item of sports. I have not yet seen such an implementation on a smart watch. I think that most of these devices have too small a screen for displaying an animated trainer in full growth. There are 44 such models in total, some of them can be seen in the video below.
In general, the training program is organized in the same way as on other Huawei devices. Only now this information is displayed on a large display: accordingly, it has become more to fit the necessary information. Sometimes this is important, since during classes you will not be distracted by interacting with the watch – you will scroll through the menu items to the desired position.
This device has about 100 programs that measure your training data. The most popular ones are at the top of the list. And the further, the more original: fitness, yoga, dancing, ball games, water, winter and extreme sports.
In our Instagram there was a question about the presence / absence of built-in GPS. Yes, he is here and works in full force: in the room, of course, things are not very good, but on the street the signal clings to the satellites perfectly.
Users can create infographics in the Health application using the information received and share them on social networks. Most often, this can be found on Instragram: who does not want to show off their overweight skills?
However, in this regard, Huawei watches and bracelets do the same job, plus or minus. That is, those who used, for example, Watch GT, in the face of Watch Fit, will receive similar functions.
As usual, there are technologies for 4.0/2.0 heart rate measurement (TruSeen 2), quality of night sleep (TruSleep 2) and stress levels. Notable – measurement of the degree of blood oxygen saturation (SpOXNUMX) in real time. This technology was introduced into a fitness device a long time ago, but only now has gained practical meaning. Now the new Apple watch also has SpOXNUMX measurement.
Vladimir Nimin remarked very accurately:
“Previously, the level of oxygen in the blood was not interesting to anyone. After the coronavirus, which just causes a decrease in oxygen in the blood, this indicator is more relevant than ever. And Apple adds it! Not before, when he was not needed, but now! Because the road is a spoon for dinner! “.
The Huawei Watch Fit can run on both the Google Android platform and the Apple iOS platform. However, on iOS, you will not get deep settings for the watch parameters: for example, there will be no choice of watch faces in the Health application, and you will not be able to control music either. In addition, on Google Android, you can better customize the programs that will send you notifications. I am sure that the matter is in the update of Huawei Health for iOS. Probably will be added later.
System / interface
The interaction with the system is the same as with any other Huawei watch. Unfortunately, there is noticeable slowdown – the device does not keep up with your actions a little, the swipe is somewhat stretching, the scrolling has not quite kinetic scrolling. That is, the Watch Fit cannot be called fast and responsive. Well, offhand: the interface works at about 10-15 fps. It is clear that this is done specifically to increase battery life.
Notifications are implemented modestly. Here you cannot answer them, just read and delete everything. Application icons are displayed only from popular programs such as WhatsApp. In general, everything is the same as in other Huawei wearable gadgets.
You cannot upload files to the watch. Due to the use of Bluetooth version 5.0, the Watch Fit will always be in touch. There is no NFC chip.
Vibration is slightly above average. You will definitely feel it.

The battery capacity is not indicated on the official website. Huawei data:

- In GPS mode: 12 hours
I got about the same numbers. If you turn off AOD, do not use GPS and do not work with workouts, then the watch will sit down after 8-10 days. If you turn on AOD, do not use training and GPS, then the device will last for 4-6 days. But with the inclusion of everything and the whole Watch Fit can be discharged in 2-3 days without much difficulty.
Keep in mind that in my case, the information was obtained at the maximum brightness of the backlight of the watch screen.
It is charged via USB with a special magnetic holder within an hour. In 30 minutes it gets about 70%.
As a conclusion
I think this is the first watch of this kind from Huawei, which pleased me not only with its appearance, large screen, but also with the number of functions. By purchasing Watch Fit, you get both heart rate, blood oxygen and stress measurements, information about how you sleep, and notifications about calls / SMS / messages from social networks. In addition, Watch Fit has installed all possible training programs. Many should check out the “bouncer” and “swing” modes.
In general, everything is superb, except for working with notifications. This is why smartwatches and bracelets are bought. Understand, respected brands, sports modes are needed by a few, the rest want a beautiful design of messages and interaction with them, they want an adequate display of the icons of the programs of these notifications.
It’s just that the overall impression is that the wearable electronics market has stopped developing. There is nothing new and original. Actually, like tablets, which are produced exclusively to close the gap: we had a section here – we need to support it.
Returning to the Huawei Watch Fit. Their price is 8 rubles. It is cheaper than round watches from almost all manufacturers. And from a functional point of view, if not cooler, then similar. Therefore, I advise you to take a closer look at Watch Fit – the most balanced accessory!
