In the course of scientific work Muon g-2 particles, under the influence of a powerful magnetic field, were dispersed in a circular collider. Experts expected to see a predictable result that would obey the laws of physics – elementary particles, muons, had to vibrate at a certain frequency. It was here that physicists were waiting for the discovery – the frequency of their oscillations turned out to be higher than expected. In this regard, they suggested that this is happening under the influence of a previously unexplored force.
According to the British Council for Scientific and Technical Equipment, the results of this work are significant confirmation of the existence of a previously unknown subatomic particle or new force.
