Sberbank and Rostelecom signed a preliminary agreement of intent, under which a joint venture, Digital Identification Technologies LLC, will be created on a parity basis. The new joint venture will develop identification technologies in order to increase the level of digitalization in various sectors of the economy and accelerate the transfer of various services to electronic form. The agreement was signed in accordance with the agreements between the chairman of the board of Sberbank German Gref and the head of Rostelecom Mikhail Oseevsky.

As the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko noted, digitalization of key sectors of the economy is a priority task facing the government. According to him, combining the efforts of Sber and Rostelecom will contribute to the accelerated development of this area. “The activities of the new joint venture are aimed at solutions on which the development and implementation of identification technologies in various sectors of the economy depends, including in terms of converting services and services into electronic form. The main mission of these companies, relying on expertise and extensive experience, is to ensure safety and security for Russian citizens on the way to solving these problems “, – emphasized Chernyshenko.

The head of Rostelecom, Mikhail Oseevsky, said that the company with the country’s largest digital infrastructure and the largest bank in Russia has everything it needs to develop digital identification technologies in the interests of all market participants. In turn, the chairman of the board of Sberbank, German Gref, noted that the company highly appreciates the expertise and developments of Rostelecom in the field of working with data and digital identification. «Sber also has extensive experience and expertise in the field of data protection, computer vision and work with biometric information. I am confident that by combining our efforts and expertise, Rostelecom and I are able to accelerate the development of services for the digital society ”, – he added.
