Many actions in Windows 10 are accompanied by sound notifications. In today’s article, we are going to take a look at how to set notification sound in Windows 10.
Set notification sound in sound settings
You need any sound file in the format wav, if you cannot find the file you need in this format, download it in mp3 format and then use any online service to convert mp3 to wav. There are a lot of sites for conversion, enter in the search engine “convert mp3 to wav” => select the found site => upload your sound to mp3 there and click convert => then download the result to wav (for example, the conversion can be done on online-audio -converter.com)
When you already have a sound file in wav format, you need to copy it to the folder C: WindowsMedia. That is, open Explorer (Win + E) => Local drive C => Windows folder => Media => paste here a sound file in wav format (right-click on the wav file, select “Copy”, then in the desired folder with the right click and select “Paste”). You will be told that “No access to the target folder” – click “Continue”.
If everything is correct, the wav sound file will be in the correct folder and you can select it as the notification sound.
1. In the search bar or in the “Run” menu (called by the Win + R buttons) enter the command mmsys.cpl and press Enter.
2. In the “Sounds” tab, select “Notification”.
3. Select your sound file from the Sounds list that you copied to the media folder.
You can check the sound by clicking on “Check”, or you can simply click on “Apply” and “OK”, after which each new Windows 10 notification will be accompanied by the sound you specified.
Set notification sound in Registry Editor
You need any sound file in the format wav. At the beginning of the first method, it is written what to do with it and where to get it.
1. In the search bar or in the Run menu, enter regedit and press Enter.
2. Follow the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER AppEvents Schemes Apps.Default Notification.Default .Current. In the .Current section, open the parameter (Default) in the “Value” field, enter the path to the sound file along with its name and click on “OK”.
That’s all for today, if there are additions – write comments! Good luck ?
