Mobilization of women in Ukraine: the Armed Forces announced who is subject to call-up and announced the list of positions

It is noted that now in Ukraine there is no need for a general mobilization of women.

Women can be mobilized only at their own will.

In Ukraine, back in October, a law was passed, according to which women can voluntarily register for the military. However, there are exceptions: women with a medical profession must do this.

At the same time, as Roman Horbach, head of the personnel department of the headquarters of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, explained in a commentary to “NV”, there is no need for a general mobilization of women in Ukraine at the moment.

“Women can be mobilized only at their own will. We have a lot of female servicemen. In terms of percentage before the war, they were much more, somewhere up to 10%, maybe even more,” he said.

Currently, women mainly serve in management positions, since they entered the service until 2022.

“Due to the very difficult conditions of service, women are less likely to join the Armed Forces. If they fully meet all the conditions and apply as volunteers, they can be called to any position without restrictions. We have female servicemen – combat commanders machines and platoon commanders of artillery batteries, etc.,” explained Horbach.

At the same time, there is a list of professions corresponding to combat specialties, but women can mobilize with them only at their own will.

But female medical workers, whose professions are specified in the appendix to the law, must register for the military. However, this does not mean that they will necessarily be mobilized to the army.

Mobilization in Ukraine: what is known

As you know, after the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia on February 24, 2022, martial law was introduced in Ukraine. General mobilization was announced at the same time. They are currently valid until February 19, 2023.

The Ministry of Defense said that the mobilization in Ukraine will last as long as it takes to re-staff all the necessary units.

During the general mobilization, all conscripted citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 can be called up for military service, if they do not have legal grounds for deferment or exclusion from military registration.

At the end of October, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed a law on putting women of certain professions on the military register at their request. The law establishes that women who are fit for military service due to their health and age, and who have graduated from professional (vocational-technical), professional or higher education institutions and have obtained a medical or pharmaceutical specialty, are subject to being included in the military register of conscripts.

Earlier, a Ukrainian paramedic told what women who decided to join the Armed Forces should be prepared for.
