In Kyiv, energy workers are trying to stabilize the situation and, closer to the night, provide voltage to about 20% of houses and switch them one by one.

This is reported by DPEK Kyiv Electric Networks. They were able to apply voltage to the entire critical infrastructure.

“Another attack by the Russian Federation has once again caused damage to Kyiv’s energy infrastructure. As of the evening of December 19, it is possible to supply voltage to all the city’s critical infrastructure – hospitals, heat and water supply facilities, and the subway,” the report says.

It is noted that current power consumption restrictions are much higher than they were before today’s attack.

“Energy workers are doing everything possible to stabilize the situation and closer to the night to provide voltage to at least 20% of residential buildings in Kyiv and switch them one by one. It is likely that this situation will last at least until tomorrow evening. We hope that tomorrow we will be able to raise the level consumption of electricity by another 20-30%,” DPEK reported.

General Director of the electricity supplier Yasno, Serhiy Kovalenko, said that today in Kyiv, all three groups are completely disconnected at the same time. Because of this, power outages in Kyiv can last up to 10 hours.

“To all the damaged objects, which are being repaired, an infrastructure object was added, due to which there is no electricity in a large part of the right bank of the city and in some places in the region. All districts are also suffering. Now all the critical infrastructure is hospitals , water supply, metro – the requested and electricity is available somewhere around 20% of the population,” he wrote.

Strikes on Kyiv’s energy infrastructure

As reported, at night today, December 19, the capital withstood several waves of attacks by Iranian Shahed. Explosions were reported in the Solomyanskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts.

According to the report of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a total of 30 out of about 35 enemy kamikaze drones were destroyed over Ukraine that night.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klychko, Obolonskyi, Podilskyi and Desnyanskyi districts suffer the most from the shortage of electricity in the capital.
