On New Year’s Eve, the air defense forces of Ukraine destroyed 45 enemy “shaheds”.

“On the night of December 31, 2022 to January 1, 2022, 2023, the Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with Iranian-made Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones,” the message reads.
It is noted that as a result of combat work by the air defense of the Air Force in cooperation with the air defense of other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, 45 attack drones were destroyed.
“The 13th is in 2022 and the 32nd is in 2023. The Ukrainians failed to spoil the holiday,” the military emphasized.
Attack of the Russian Federation on Ukraine on New Year’s Day
On the afternoon of December 31, 2022, Russia launched another missile attack on Ukraine.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny reported that the enemy launched more than 20 cruise missiles, 12 of which were shot down.
As a result of the attack on Mykolaiv, seven people were injured.
Explosions also rang out in Kyiv. The mayor of the capital Vitaliy Klitschko said that as a result of the Russian attack on civilian objects in the capital, one person died and 20 were injured. 14 people were hospitalized, six were treated by medics on the spot.
After a massive missile strike in the afternoon, Russia launched kamikaze drones over Ukraine. On the evening of December 31, a few hours before the New Year, the Russian Federation attacked southern Ukraine with kamikaze drones. It was reported that two groups of Shaheds had flown in.

Oleksiy Kuleba, the head of the Kyiv regional military administration, reported that air defense was operating in the Kyiv region. At the same time, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, emphasized that the explosions in the capital were the result of the work of the Air Defense Forces.
