Cristiano Ronaldo can still play in the UEFA Champions League.
The famous Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo officially became a football player of “Al-Nasra” from Saudi Arabia the day before.
The player of the national team of Portugal signed a contract with the Saudi club until the summer of 2025. However, as reported by the Spanish publication Marca, Cristiano may return to Europe next season.
The source reports that there is a special clause in the contract of the Portuguese, according to which Ronaldo can go on loan to the English “Newcastle” if the “magpies” qualify for the Champions League at the end of this Premier League season.
It is worth noting that Newcastle is owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, which has good relations with the leadership of Al-Nasr. So, such a transfer is quite likely.
In addition, Ronaldo has stated many times that he still wants to play in the Champions League and remain the record holder of Europe’s most prestigious club tournament. At the moment, it is the Portuguese who is the best scorer in the history of the Champions League. Ronaldo has 140 goals on his account, which is 11 more than the nearest pursuer – PSG forward Lionel Messi.
This season, Newcastle is in third place in the Premier League and has a real chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
There is another interesting point in Ronaldo’s deal with Al-Nasr. According to CBS Sports, Cristiano has the right to change the team’s coaches at will.
This year’s head coach of “Al-Nasra” is Rudy Garcia, who previously worked at the French “Lyon” and “Marseille”.
It will be recalled that before the start of the 2022 World Cup in football, Cristiano Ronaldo terminated his contract with Manchester United partly due to a conflict with the head coach of the Red Devils, Erik ten Haag.
In “Al-Nasr”, the star striker will probably not have such problems. If the coach does not suit him, the club will invite another.
