As a result of the Russian shelling of the Dnipro, five people were killed and dozens were injured.
According to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration Valentyn Reznichenko, all the injured are in the hospital.
“27 people were injured. Among them are six children. All of them are in the hospital… Five have already died,” he wrote.
Serhiy Kruk, head of the State Emergency Service, said that 15 people were rescued from the ruins of the building during the search and rescue operation.
“Departments of the State Emergency Service are working in an intensified mode. More than 80 personnel and more than 20 units of State Emergency Service equipment have been involved,” he noted.
In the President’s Office, they showed how the rescue operation takes place: people are removed with the help of cranes, signaling with lights and mobile phones.
Updated (17:49): The head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional council Mykola Lukashuk informs that 20 people have already been rescued, including 3 children. Also, according to his information, two (and not one, as reported) entrances were destroyed.
“All services are working. The rescue operation is ongoing. It’s terrifying and painful. Rescuers are finding people under the rubble. The whole span, 2 entrances of a high-rise building are completely destroyed. Peaceful people, young parents, children. It’s a day off. Russia is murderers and inhumans. They will burn in hell for their crimes,” he said.
Rocket attack on the Dnipro on January 14
