Countering Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy grid: the “recipe” has been revealed

The Russian missile industry must be punished with tough sanctions, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine emphasized.

Dmytro Kulib revealed

On Tuesday, January 24, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, named three ways to counter Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy grid.

The head of the Foreign Ministry commented on Russia’s massive missile strikes on his Twitter account and thanked for the invitation to today’s meeting of the foreign ministers of the G7 countries (“Big Seven”). “I am grateful to all states and institutions that have announced new practical assistance to restore Ukraine’s energy system damaged by Russian strikes,” he wrote.

Kuleba emphasized that there are three main ways to solve the problem of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy grid.

“The first is providing Ukraine with more air defense systems; the second is more equipment to restore the power grid, which was discussed at the meeting today; the third is tough sanctions against Russia’s missile industry,” the minister noted.

Enemy shelling of Ukraine is worth knowing today

As reported, during the missile attack on January 14, the Russian army attacked energy facilities in six regions of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s energy system has already survived 12 enemy missile attacks and 14 UAV strikes on energy facilities. In addition, more than 10 GW of the main installed capacities are still inaccessible to the Ukrainian energy system and are under the control of the enemy. This is the largest in Ukraine and Europe: Zaporizhzhia NPP, Zaporizhzhia TPP, Luhansk TPP, Vuglehirskaya TPP, Kakhovskaya HPP.

Today, January 24, NEC “Ukrenergo” reported that electricity production in Ukraine has slightly increased, but the deficit remains significant.
