A visitor to the Reddit forum under the pseudonym MadeOnLeapday drew attention to a small hole in the story. In the second episode, the creators slightly changed the story. Tess is not killed by FEDRA soldiers, but in an explosion that kills a crowd of infected and allows Joel and Ellie to escape.

The heroine decided to sacrifice herself because she was infected with cordyceps during a fight with enemies. And here there is a mismatch. In the first series, the audience was briefly shown a poster on which was written the time until transformation when different parts of the body were affected by the virus. Tess was bitten on the neck and according to this information, she should have metamorphosed in 5-15 minutes. However, the heroine managed to make her way through several more buildings, descend to the Capitol and maintain consciousness until her death. Even in the series itself, more than 15 minutes of time elapsed.
