In Tokyo, the man had two grown-up daughters, whom he promised to visit on holidays.
In the third month of the full-scale invasion, 75-year-old Fuminori Tsuchiko got into the Kharkiv subway, which at the time served as a bomb shelter. He lived with people in the underground for 9 months.
He organized a weekly rubber donation for Kharkiv residents. And then – more – the man sold the house in Japan and moved to Kharkiv, according to the story of TSN.
Fuminori shares how difficult it was to live in the Kharkiv underground, at the Heroes of Labor station. The cold and the wash basin instead of the shower bothered me the most. “It was good in the summer, but in the winter… Oh, my God, it was so cold,” he recalls.
Tsuchiko cooked food, entertained children and adults in the dungeon. He talked about life in the subway on Facebook and collected donations for Kharkiv residents. “Fumi organized breakfasts. We gave them out every day,” says a resident of the city.
The man, not afraid of shelling, ran to the shops every day to get food for the residents of the station. When the people left the subway, Fuminori did not stop helping, he continues to distribute food to his “underground” friends.
Recently, Fuminori decided to stay in Kharkiv forever, he sold his house in Japan and rented an apartment in Saltivka. He had two adult daughters left in Tokyo, whom he promised to visit on holidays.
“I will live in Kharkiv even after the victory. I no longer have a home in Japan. I sold everything. That is why I am here forever! And I will help the people of Kharkiv,” says the Japanese.
Currently, Fuminori continues tirelessly to collect money to help pensioners in Kharkiv.
Restoration of Kharkiv
In the spring of last year, the construction of housing for those who lost it due to the war started in Kharkiv. According to the mayor of the city, as a result of the war, about 30% of the entire housing stock was destroyed.
Earlier, the President’s Office stated that almost all high-rise buildings on Northern Saltivka in Kharkiv were destroyed.
North Saltivka is a microdistrict of Kharkiv, in which more than 300 thousand people lived.
