The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights recorded 697 deaths and injuries among civilians as a result of Russian shelling in January alone.

The Ministry of Defense of Great Britain writes about this, referring to the report of its intelligence. In particular, a very high intensity of shelling and a tendency to increase the task of damage to medical and educational institutions was observed during January 2023.
It is noted that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and as of February 13, 2023, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) recorded 18,955 civilian casualties. This number includes 7,199 killed Ukrainians and 11,756 wounded. 697 civilian casualties occurred in January 2023.
“OHCHR believes that the actual figures are much higher. According to another independent analysis, more than 16,000 civilians were probably killed,” the British Ministry of Defense notes.
Also, British intelligence adds that according to data for January 2023, brutal shelling continued along the 1,200 km long front line, but was concentrated mainly in the Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
