The developers of the social network Facebook have introduced several new features with which users of the platform will be able to independently determine who can comment on their posts and what content should be shown in their feed. A message about this was published on the official blog of the company.
According to the published data, users of the social network can now choose one of three options in the settings to restrict comments on published posts. Thus, each user can leave comments open for everyone, only for friends, or only for pages and profiles that are mentioned in the publication. If you specify only your own Facebook profile in the settings, then other users will not be able to comment on the post at all.
Another innovation concerns the content displayed in the news feed. The developers have added a function “Filter Ribbon Panel”, thanks to which you can rank the displayed content. This means that users will be able to independently choose which content should be shown first. In the near future, this tool will become available to users who use Android devices to interact with the social network, and within a few weeks it will appear in the iOS version of the application.
The developers also talked in more detail about how the function of selecting the recommended content for viewing works. The algorithm for selecting recommended materials is based on the user’s behavior on the social network. This means that if a user often views or comments on materials, for example, on sports topics, then he will be recommended to view the content corresponding to his interests.
