In November 2017, Google entered the TWS headphone market with the original Pixel Buds. In April 2020, they were replaced by Pixel Buds 2. It looks like the company is now planning to expand its portfolio of fully wireless headphones with a more affordable device.
According to 9to5Google, the search giant is working on affordable TWS headphones called Pixel Buds A. The name of the series sounds quite logical, since the company also offers relatively affordable smartphones in the Pixel A series in parallel with the flagship Pixel devices.
As for the features of the device, little is known about them, but there are suggestions that the Pixel Buds A will retain the design of the second generation Pixel Buds. However, they will not be able to boast of such “chips” as real-time translation or adaptive sound. It looks like the Pixel Buds A have already made it to the FCC regulatory certification list. Last week, the FCC revealed new Google wireless earbuds with model number GPQY2, which are the same dimensions as the second generation Pixel Buds.
The launch date and cost of the new headphones are still unknown, but there are speculations that their price will be around $ 100.
