Samsung’s upcoming smartwatches have been the subject of rumors and leaks for months. Several analysts have hinted that the South Korean company’s wearables coming soon will use Wear OS instead of the brand’s Tizen. Now this has been confirmed.
The well-known insider Max Winebach discovered in the latest version of the Galaxy Wear app information about watches with the codenames Wise and Fresh. They are supposed to match the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4. These devices are expected to be released between April and June this year. Weinbach noticed that references to the new watch in the application code are often accompanied by the NewOS mark. This indicates that the watch will ship with a new operating system. Of course, nowhere is it explicitly said that it will be Wear OS, but its use is most likely.
Samsung maintains a consistently high market share in wearable devices, but it is quite difficult for it to compete with the market leader in the face of Apple. The move to Wear OS is expected to allow Samsung to strengthen its position in the smartwatch market.
