Famitsu magazine shared information on sales of retail editions of games in Japan during the period from March 22 to March 28 this year. The rating was easily topped by the action RPG Monster Hunter Rise.
As a reminder, Capcom announced earlier this week that Monster Hunter Rise’s shipments in the first three days of worldwide sales exceeded 4 million copies. As it turned out, more than a quarter of this amount was accounted for by Japanese retail.
During this period, sales of physical editions of Monster Hunter Rise in the Land of the Rising Sun amounted to 1 copies (an approximate figure for Famitsu).
For comparison: the PS4 version of Monster Hunter: World (the game was not released on the Xbox One in Japan) at one time during the same period sold over the country in the amount of over 1,35 million copies.
This tendency – a strong result, but weaker than its predecessor – can be traced in other countries as well. For example, in the UK retail chart, Monster Hunter Rise also started at # XNUMX and also lost to Monster Hunter: World.
The fact that Monster Hunter Rise would be popular in Japan became clear even before the release: pre-orders for the game were sold out in many popular retail stores.
While Monster Hunter Rise is only available on Nintendo Switch, the game will appear on PC in early 2022. And already at the end of April 2021, the project is waiting for the first free content update.
