Roscosmos Executive Director for Advanced Programs and Science Alexander Bloshenko shared information on the implementation of the Amur project to create a reusable launch vehicle with a reversible first stage.
The state corporation Roscosmos in October last year signed a contract with the Progress Rocket and Space Center for the development of a preliminary design of the Amur complex. It is planned to create a medium-class carrier, the first stage of which can be used up to ten times. This will ensure a reduction in the cost of launch services.
«The sketch design stage ends in September approximately, that is, in the fall we will understand the appearance of the carrier, the appearance of the ground infrastructure“, – said Mr. Bloshenko in the program” Big Space “on the channel” Roscosmos-TV “.
It is assumed that liquefied natural gas and liquid oxygen will be used as fuel components for the new rocket. It is planned to create the necessary infrastructure for the launch vehicle at the Russian Vostochny cosmodrome.
Earlier it was said that Roskosmos will allocate more than 400 million rubles for the creation of a draft design for a new carrier. The first test launch of the Amur rocket will take place no earlier than the middle of this decade. And by 2030 Roskosmos expects to provide up to 13-14 launches of the carrier annually.
