Last week, Elon Musk’s co-founder of Neuralink, Max Hodak, tweeted on Twitter that they could bring dinosaurs back to Earth if they wanted to. More precisely, researchers could develop new types of dinosaurs without using the genetic material of extinct species. It would take 15 years of selection and genetic engineering, and Jurassic Park would no longer be science fiction.
Note that Citizen Khodak did not specify whether there are such plans and who is involved in them. Neuralink company is engaged in brain implants to help paralyzed people. Neuralink currently has a chipped pig and a monkey in its assets, although it has previously reported plans to start working with patients with spinal cord injuries.
However, there is good reason behind the words of the co-founder of Neuralink. Recall that Tesla has been working closely with the German company CureVac for about two years. The development of the Germans makes it possible to synthesize RNA molecules according to a given program. Elon Musk calls the device a bioreactor in which drugs and vaccines can be synthesized. We can assume that the device has many interesting functions and possibilities for use in genetic engineering. Therefore, the words of Hodak can be not just dreams at leisure, but a hint of certain goals.
