The Federal Antimonopoly Service issued a warning to Yandex at the end of February. Allegedly, the company in the search results gives preference to its own services, including Yandex.Market and Kinopoisk. Now a case has been brought against the company under the article on abuse of position in the commodity market.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service believes that Yandex discriminates against third-party services in the search results: it is allegedly more difficult for them to get into the interactive widgets of the search page. Since the deadline for fulfilling the requirements to remedy the situation passed on April 1, it was decided to start office work against the company under article 14.31 of the Administrative Code. If Yandex’s guilt is confirmed, it may be fined from 0,01 to 0,15% of the proceeds.
A Yandex representative told RBC that the company did not agree with the claim of the Federal Antimonopoly Service: “We do not agree with the charge of restricting competition and are ready to defend our position. Enriched answers on search is a world practice, all search engines provide extended answers to users “… In addition, the company is already expanding its rich response technologies for its partners.
The press service of “Yandex” also told RIA Novosti that it would not fulfill all the requirements, as this would worsen the quality of search and the company’s position in the market. However, some of them – which do not seem to have much impact on the work – she has already completed.
