Today we’ll take a look at several ways to create a shortcut to open the Microsoft Edge browser on your desktop.
Create a shortcut using drag and drop.
By default, there is a shortcut to the Edge browser on the taskbar, if you take it with the left mouse button and drag it to the desktop, then nothing will happen, and by clicking on it with the right mouse button, you will not be able to send it to the desktop. But, there is a shortcut that can be dragged to the desktop and it is located in the “Start” menu. Go to Start, find Microsoft Edge in the list => click on it with the left mouse button and without releasing the key, drag the shortcut to the desktop => when the shortcut is above the desktop, release the left key.
It’s as easy as pulling a shortcut to your desktop.
Create a shortcut manually.
While the first method can be used to pull out the label in a few seconds, the second method is more time consuming.
1.Click anywhere on the desktop with the right mouse button, from the menu that opens, select “Create” => Shortcut;
2. Copy the line % windir% explorer.exe shell: AppsfolderMicrosoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe! MicrosoftEdge and paste it into the “Specify the location of the object” field (that is, select the line using the left mouse button or by holding down the shift key and pressing the arrow, then press Ctrl + c to copy the line and Ctrl + v to paste it). Click Next.
3.Write any name for the shortcut, you don’t have to write Edge, then click Done.
In fact, a shortcut on the desktop has already been created, although it looks like a regular folder, but when you open it, you will see the Edge browser.
4.Now let’s change the shortcut icon, click on the created shortcut with the right mouse button and select “Properties” from the context menu that opens.
5.Left-click on “Change Icon”.
6.In the line “Look for icons in the next file” insert the line % windir% SystemAppsMicrosoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbweMicrosoftEdge.exe and press Enter.
7.The Microsoft Edge browser icon will appear in the list below, select it with the left mouse button and click “OK”.
8.Click “OK” again.
A Microsoft Edge browser shortcut is created on the desktop.
Download and unzip the shortcut to your desktop.
1.Download the archive with the Microsoft Edge browser shortcut;
2.Unpack it to your desktop (you must have any archiver installed to perform this action).
That’s all for today, if you know other methods or just have some additions – write comments! Good luck ?
