How to view, delete, change password in Microsoft Edge

In today’s article, we’ll look at how to view saved passwords, how to delete or change them in the Microsoft Edge browser.

In the browser itself, you can view sites for which the saved passwords, login to enter on a particular site, but the password itself will be hidden. You can change the saved username and password for the site in your browser, or delete this data. If you want to see the saved password, then you need to search not in the browser, but in the control panel (more on this later).

Delete all saved passwords in Microsoft Edge.

1.Open the Edge browser => click on the three parallel lines at the top right => open “Journal” (the icon looks like a clock) => and left-click on “Clear all logs”.

2. Uncheck all the boxes and put only the “Passwords” field, then click “Clear”.

Remove username and password for a specific site in Microsoft Edge

If you click do not save the password, then the browser can save only the login, which is not always necessary. In any case, in this way, you can delete the username and password for a separate site.

1.Open the Edge browser => left-click the three dots in the upper right => in the menu that opens, select “Options”;

2. Go down a little in the list that opens and open “View additional parameters”;

3. Open “Manage saved passwords”;

4.When you hover your mouse over any of the listed sites – appears on the right side Х If you click on it, the login and password for the selected site will be deleted. In this way, delete the data of all unnecessary sites.

 Change username or password for a specific site.

1.Open the Edge browser => left-click the three dots in the upper right => in the menu that opens, select “Options”;

2. Go down a little in the list that opens and open “View additional parameters”;

3. Open “Manage saved passwords”;

4.Left-click on the site for which you want to change the data;

5.In the username and password field, you can make the desired changes, then click “Save”.

  View saved passwords in Edge

If in other browsers you can view saved passwords through the browser itself, then in Edge this is not at all the case.

1. In the search bar, enter “Credential Manager” and select it from the results found (you can also go to these settings through the control panel).

2. Select “Internet credentials”, below under “Web passwords” all sites for which passwords are saved are listed, and immediately you can see the saved account. To view the password – left-click on the arrow at the end of the line with the site you need.

3. In this menu, you can remove the password for this site by clicking on “Delete” or view it – by clicking on “Show”.

4.You will be prompted for a password for the account under which you are logged in, enter the password and click “OK”.

After that, you will immediately see the password for the site you are interested in.

If there is no password for your system account, you click “OK” and you receive an error “This user was not logged in due to account restrictions. For example: blank passwords are not allowed, the number of logins is limited, or a policy-based limitation is applied”- there are two options, set a password for the account under which you log in, or do the following:

1.In the search bar or in the execute menu (execute is called by the Win + r keys), we write the command gpedit.msc and press Enter. If you have a home version of 10ki – instead of entering group policies, open the registry editor (enter regedit in the search bar) = go to the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlLsa and change the value of the LimitBlankPasswordUse parameter to 0

2.In the opened group policies, open Computer Configuration => Windows Configuration => Security Settings => Local Policies => Security Settings now in the right column we look for and open “Accounts: allow using empty passwords only in console view”.

3.We put a point in the “Disabled” field and click “OK”.

Now, when it asks for a password for the system account, when you want to view the browser password, just leave the field blank (if there is no password for this account) and click “OK”, after which you will see the Edge browser password you are interested in.

  That’s all for today, if you have any additions – write comments! Good luck ?
