To perform these actions, the user under which you are logged in must have administrator rights.
Remove properties from the context menu of the trash can in group policies
This method works in Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise or Education, if you have a dozen home versions – go to the second method. If you want to remove properties from the context menu of the recycle bin for other users of this computer, first follow the instructions “How to configure group policies for specific users”.
1. Open Group Policies: in the search bar or in the Run menu (run by pressing Win + R) enter gpedit.msc and press the Enter key.
2. Open “User Configuration” => “Administrative Templates” => “Desktop” => on the right side open “Delete item“ Properties ”from the context menu of the component“ Trash ”.
3. Place a dot next to “Enabled” and click “OK”.
4.Restart File Explorer or restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
To re-enable “Properties” in the context menu in the future, do the first three points from the instructions above and put a full stop in front of “Disabled” or “Not configured”.
Remove properties from the context menu of the trash can in the registry editor
It is recommended that you create a system restore point before editing the registry.
1. Open the registry editor: in the search bar or in the run menu (run by pressing the Win + R keys) enter the command regedit and press the Enter key.
2. To remove “Properties” from the context menu of the basket for all users – follow the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies Explorer. Click on the “Explorer” section with the right mouse button and select “New” => “DWORD Parameter (32 bit) => name the new parameter NoPropertiesRecycleBin
Open the created parameter, in the “Value” field enter 1 and click on “OK”.
3.Restart File Explorer or restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
If you want to remove properties from the context menu only for the user under which you are logged in, do the second item from the instructions above only along the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies Explorer.
To return the “Properties” to the context menu of the trash in the future – delete the created parameter NoPropertiesRecycleBin.
