How to find out which Windows 10 build you have installed

In today’s article, we will describe where to go to find out the version and build of Windows 10 installed on your computer.

See what version and build of Windows 10 in system settings

Go to the “Start” menu and select “Settings”.

Open “System” => “About” => here you will see the OS version and build.

  • edition indicates which operating system you are using. In the example, Windows 10 PRO, and maybe also a home, corporate, or training version. If you have a home version of the system, and you want a professional version, you can go to it through the Windows store, paying about $ 100;
  • version: if you have the original version of the assembly, no updates – you will only see “Build OS 10240”. This was the first release of Windows 10. If you had updates to assemblies, for example, a big update was released in November, you will see the version of your Assembly, in this case 1511 and OS Build 10586.29. 1511 is the key, this number stands for – Windows 10 was released in November (11 month) 2015. That is, if Microsoft decides to release a new build in May 2016, then its version will be 1605;
  • System type: here you can see what bit depth your version of Windows 10 has (32 bit or 64 bit). In our example, “32-bit operating system, x64 processor” indicates that you have 32-bit Windows 10 installed, but at the same time your computer is compatible with 64-bit Windows, and you can upgrade to it if you want.

See which version and build in Windows Info

  In the search bar or in the run menu (run by pressing the Win + R keys) enter the command winver and press the Enter key.

2015121512

On the second line, you see the version and build of Windows 10. Again, the version number in the form YYMM, where 1511 means the 11th month of 2015.

Also in this window you can see which edition of Windows you have installed, in our example Windows 10 PRO

Using the winver command, there is no way to see the bitness of the system, but is this a problem? ?

To find out the bitness of the system: open Explorer => click on “This computer” with the right mouse button => select “Properties”.

In the window that opens, you can see the edition of your operating system (in the example Windows 10 Pro), how much RAM is installed in this computer, what processor and its frequency, and the system bit in the “System type” field. That is, in the “System Type” field, you will see a 32 or 64 bit operating system installed and whether your hardware supports 64 bit Windows or not.

See which assembly in the system information

In the search bar or in the run menu (run by pressing the Win + R keys) enter the command msinfo32 and press the Enter key.

When “System Information” is selected on the left side, the Windows 10 assembly is written in the right column opposite “Version”.

That’s all for today, if you know other methods – write in the comments! Good luck ?
