Mr Salmon said that his wife was “smart, clever and witty”, adding “I’m grateful for the chance to talk to her, marry her, be happy with her, and fall in love with her.”
He also said that the Metropolitan Police “should have done a lot more,” telling Sky News: “That’s something we need to speak about at a later date because they failed us and they know they failed us.”
“She left home loved, healthy, strong, independent… she said to me ‘I love you, bye’, and I said ‘I love you too, bye’.
“And then she opened the door and that was the last time she came back in.”
A warrant for McCaskie’s arrest was issued on January 4, after he failed to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaching a stalking order.
The Metropolitan Police has referred itself to the police watchdog because of its previous contact with Ms Chkaifi.
