Sport briefing: Wimbledon poised to let Djokovic play
Wimbledon is set to allow Novak Djokovic to defend his title despite his refusal to be vaccinated against coronavirus. The Serbian declared on Tuesday he would rather sacrifice his title than be jabbed but Tim Henman, a member of the board of the All England Club, has said he does not foresee any ban being imposed on Djokovic. Oliver Brown says the player should be vaccinated, but absolutely should not be banned. Meanwhile, Great Britain’s dismal Winter Olympics was summed up by the image of Britain’s duo sliding dramatically over the finish line inside an upturned sled following an 83mph crash in the two-man bobsleigh. Earlier, Russian teenager Kamila Valieva shook off the doping saga that has engulfed her during the Games, dazzling cheering spectators.

Business briefing: Wages in worst decline since 2014
Real wages fell 1.2pc in the final months of 2021 as pay failed to keep up with soaring inflation in the worst drop in living standards in eight years. The average wage, excluding bonuses, rose 3.6pc from a year earlier, compared with the current rate of inflation of 5.4pc, the Office for National Statistics said. Experts have warned more pain is on the way in April with energy bills set to add around £700 to annual costs at the same time as the Chancellor’s National Insurance raid hits pay packets.
