Vauxhall Mokka-e: a re-invented family favourite

Long term test: The £30,000, 200-mile range EV market is now brimming with options, from hatchbacks like the Volkswagen ID.3 to compact SUVs like the Peugeot e-2008 and this – the Vauxhall Mokka-e. Is this the one to go for in an increasingly busy sector of the market?

Our car: Vauxhall Mokka-e Elite Premium

List price when new: £32,080 (after £2,500 Government plug-in car grant)

Price as tested: £33,430 (incl. Mamba Green paint at £650 and IntelliLux LED lights at £700)

Official range: 201 miles

Well, it’s very green isn’t it? Literally and metaphorically. But I do rather like the Mamba Green paint that makes our new Vauxhall Mokka-e long termer stand out in a car park. I can’t think of another mainstream model that’s had such a dramatic identity change (for the better) than the Vauxhall Mokka. The previous Mokka was quite remarkable in its unremarkableness, after all, and that’s absolutely not the case with this one.

Complete with Luton’s new ‘vizor’ grille and contrast roof, it really does look sharp and I’m often finding myself doing the car park nod of appreciation.

Vauxhall, along with Stellantis Group partners Peugeot and Citroen, has decided that electric vehicles needn’t be distinguishable from the petrol or diesel counterparts, so the Mokka is the latest model to be offered with battery and petrol options. Here, we’ve got the pure electric Mokka-e, complete with 50kWh electric battery, 134bhp and a WLTP range of 201 miles.
