World Cup 2022: group composition and schedule of matches

On Sunday, November 20, the 22nd ever FIFA World Cup will start. This year, the planetary championship is hosted by Qatar.

For the first time in history, the tournament will be held in the Middle East and for the first time it will be held in autumn and winter.

32 national teams participate in the final part of the World Cup.

According to the regulations, all national teams were divided into eight groups, with four national teams in each. The winners and second teams of their quartets will advance to the 1/8 finals.

Group B: England, USA, Iran, Wales

Group F: Belgium, Croatia, Morocco, Canada

Group G: Brazil, Switzerland, Serbia, Cameroon

Group H: Portugal, Uruguay, South Korea, Ghana

The 2022 World Cup will be opened by a match between the national teams of Qatar and Ecuador. This game will take place on November 20 at the “El Bayt” stadium in the city of El Hawry. The meeting starts at 18:00 Kyiv time.

The 1/8 finals of the tournament will take place from December 3 to 6, the 1/4 games are scheduled for December 9-10, and the semifinals are scheduled for December 13-14.

The final match will take place on December 18 at the National Stadium in Lusail, which holds 80,000 spectators.

Let’s add that in the entire history of the World Cup, only eight national teams were able to win this trophy. The largest number of championship titles in Brazil is five.

The current winner of the World Cup is the national team of France, which beat Croatia in the final of the 2018 World Cup.

We will remind you that the national team of Ukraine could not make it to the 2022 World Cup in football. “Blue and Yellow” beat the Scotland national team 3:1 in the semifinals of the World Cup qualifiers, and narrowly lost to Wales 0:1 in the final.
