The line of “deconfliction” was used by the United States.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the special communication line created by the US and Russian military for the resolution of conflict situations has been used only once.
As an American official told Reuters on the condition of anonymity, the United States used the “deconfliction” line to report concern about military operations near critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine conducted by the Russian occupiers.
At the same time, the American official did not specify which event was the reason for calling the hotline. He added that this did not refer to the fall of a missile in the Polish village of Przewodów on November 15, which occurred during a massive Russian missile attack on the territory of Ukraine.
Journalists of the publication assume that it was about the actions of the Russian occupiers around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. In addition, it could refer to rumors about the possible undermining of the Kakhovskaya HPP.
“Ukraine has also expressed concern that Russia may blow up the Kakhovka Dam, which holds back a huge reservoir in the south of Ukraine. Blowing up the dam will lead to the flooding of settlements located below, in particular in the direction of the strategic regional center – Kherson, which Ukrainian troops recaptured on November 11” – it is stated in the material.
The line of “deconfliction” was created in the first weeks of the large-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine – in March 2022. It unites the European Command of the US Armed Forces and the Russian National Defense Command Center.
Russia’s war against Ukraine: the role of the United States
The Pentagon is considering a proposal from the Boeing company to supply Ukraine with cheap, small-sized, high-precision projectiles that are mounted on existing missiles. This will allow Kyiv to strike far behind Russian troops while the West tries to meet demand for additional weapons.
Political scientist and publicist Andriy Piontkovsky believes that Washington seeks to ensure the controlled disintegration of the Russian Federation. Because of this, the States provide weapons to Ukraine in a dosed manner.
Earlier it was reported that the USA will transfer $400 million worth of military aid to Ukraine. As US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken noted, this aid package provides for the transfer of additional weapons, ammunition and air defense equipment from the stocks of the US Ministry of Defense.
