The President emphasized the importance of people understanding when and for what period of time their electricity will be cut off.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that the situation with electricity supply remains very difficult in Kyiv and six oblasts.
As he noted in his evening video address, as of the evening of November 30, about six million subscribers in most regions of Ukraine and in Kyiv were disconnected from electricity.
“The situation remains very difficult in the capital, as well as in Kyiv region, in Vinnytsia, Lviv, Odesa, Khmelnytskyi and Cherkasy regions. Energy and utility workers, all our services are doing everything to stabilize the system and give people more energy for a long time,” – said Zelensky.
He emphasized the importance of people understanding when and for how long their electricity will be cut off.
“This is the responsibility of both the energy companies themselves and the local authorities. People have the right to know. And to the extent that it is possible now, the predictability of life should be ensured. People see that in neighboring houses or on the nearest streets, for some reason, the rules regarding light are different. And there must be justice and clarity,” the president said.
The situation with electricity supply in Ukraine
Since the beginning of October, Russia has carried out seven attacks on energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. The last attack took place on November 23. On this day, Russia launched about 70 cruise missiles, 51 of which were shot down. The rockets hit a number of energy facilities, causing a blackout.
Only at the end of last week, the energy industry managed to stabilize the operation of the Ukrainian power system, but the capacity deficit remains.
Emergency and scheduled power outages continue in many cities.
Today, November 30, the Ministry of Energy instructed the State Inspectorate of Energy Supervision of Ukraine during martial law to carry out inspections of Oblenergo regarding the correctness of the application of power outage schedules.
Representatives of the Derzhenergonadzor will be on duty at the dispatch centers of “Ukrenergo” and Distribution System Operators during the morning and evening peak hours in order to control compliance with schedules.
