The Russian Federation demanded the convening of a meeting of the UN Security Council on Friday, December 9, 2022.
As Ukrinform reports with reference to the secretariat of the Security Council, representatives of the aggressor country want to discuss the supply of weapons to Ukraine by the West.
It is noted that the meeting will take place on Friday at 22.00 Kyiv time. The meeting will begin at 3:00 PM ET.
Russia in the UN Security Council
On December 6, 2022, Russia’s ambassador Vasyl Nebenzya fled from a meeting of the UN Security Council before the speech of the permanent representative of Ukraine, Serhiy Kyslytsia. As the Ukrainian diplomat said, Nebenzya directly stated that he does not want to listen to the “bile eloquence” of our country’s delegation.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that one seat in the UN Security Council is “still occupied”. As the president noted, he is sure that no one in the world wants to hear Russian lies anymore.
In addition, Russia uses the Security Council as another platform for spreading fakes about Ukraine. The aggressor even offered to adopt a resolution regarding “military biolaboratories” in Ukraine. However, the UN Security Council did not support the document proposed by the Russian Federation by a majority vote.
